In 1912, Albrecht Jung laid the foundations for the JUNG company with a patent for a pull-cord light switch. With his entrepreneurial success and pioneering spirit, he thus made a historical contribution to the “Gründerzeit” founding era that is today almost mythically revered. He consequently moved production to a new factory building in 1927, which would soon be crowned with his villa in 1928. After several remodels and additions over the years, the villa had been partially robbed of its original identity. It stood empty after 2015. Today, the villa and its new extension, completed in 2024, act as think tank, meeting area, and service center for the company in Schalksmühle.
Together with JUNG, Bauwelt sheds light on this project in the fifteenth edition of the Bauwelt Einblick series:
To begin, the magazine introduces the competition process, followed by a project description of the conversion and extension work, and supplemented by an interview with the planners from Nehse Gerstein Architekten. The electrical manufacturer's approach to the use of technology is highlighted in an article on the building equipment. In multi-page photo galleries, the issue documents details of the construction, presents further examples of successfully implemented villas and their extensions, and outlines the milestones in JUNG's company history. All of this is available to discover in the free PDF download.
