Bauwelt Prize 2013

Award and Advancement Award
The Bauwelt Award (consisting of 5 awards at 5,000 Euros each) applies to all categories of “First Work” – from the interior design of shops and stores to prototypal constructions, from public housing projects to the restructuring of a public space and to temporary interventions.Qualified for submission is every first work the submitter has realised on his or her own responsibility and which has been completed after October 15th, 2009.
The Advancement Award (1 award at 5000 Euros) will be awarded for a project that has not yet been realised or that has not been completed as for its implementation special resort efforts must be taken.

Closing date
October 22nd, 2012 (date of postmark). The shipping of the entries must be cost-free for the receiver. Entries that had been sent off in time according to the postmark can be accepted for the competition when they arrive not later than October 25th. We recommend using a postal service that guarantees on-time delivery. 
Important advice:
 Shipments must bear the clearly readable endorsement “Keine Handelsware“ (meaning “no merchandise”). The receiver will not accept any costs incurred by postal service or customs duties. At the usual office hours, the entries can also be delivered in person in the editorial office.

Documents
The work submitted for the Bauwelt Award must be represented on a sheet in the ISO A1 size in printed or plotted form. In the top right angle, the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of the author must be stated. An explanatory report may be added on a ISO A4 sheet; that report should not exceed 200 words and must be given in German or English. The participants to style their sheet at their own discretion. They should take care to ensure that their work shall be represented by drawing and photographs completely and clearly in its totality and in the details. It is expected that the layout plans and sections necessary for understanding the project are delivered. The presentation of the projects submitted for the Advancement Award is left to the authors’ discretion but must not exceed the amount of 1 sheet in the ISO A1 size (corresponding to 8 sheets in the ISO A4 size). The submitted documents will not be returned. Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.

Prize money
The prize money consists of 30,000 Euros. Each winner of the five awards and of the advancement award will be awarded 5000 Euros. The jury is entitled to partition the prize money differently.

Publication
All award-winning projects as well as a selection of further entries will be published in Bauwelt1–2.2013 and shown at the BAU 2013 on the Munich fairgrounds from January 14th to 19th.

The prize award ceremony and exhibition opening will be Tuesday, the 15th of  January 2013, in Hall B0 at noon precisely. All participants in the competition declare their acceptance of the Conditions of participation by their participation in the competition. The participants in the competition assure that they are the creators and authors of their competition entries. Furthermore, they declare their consent to the cost-free publication of their entries. The participants are solely responsible for obtaining allowances for the right of use of third parties (especially with regard to photographs).After the end of the BAU 2013, the award-winning and selected projects will be shown in further exhibitions. The exact locations and dates will be published in good time prior to the respective exhibitions in Bauwelt.
